Community colleges provide a critical resource for the future of our nation. With more than 1,200 institutions nationwide, they offer ready access and a cost-effective answer to maintaining a world class workforce in a global economy. In addition, they have been identified by business, philanthropic, and policy leaders as key to increasing the numbers of college-educated Americans in the next decade. The American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) advances the cause of community colleges and their more than 13 million students.

Membership is AACC's single most important source of support, and the Association's relationship with its members is the highest expression of our commitment to AACC's mission of being the national voice of community colleges.

AACC does not sell or provide its electronic membership list to other organizations. Purchase a membership directory by clicking here

Member Benefits

Advocacy: Your National Voice

AACC has forged effective relationships on Capitol Hill and with the White House and key federal agencies, as well as with prominent businesses and the news media. Through those relationships, AACC keeps community colleges in the spotlight, increasing awareness of their value, and fighting for resources and programs critical to member colleges and their students. Within the larger higher education community, AACC speaks for community colleges and promotes their interests.

Leadership Development

Strong and informed leaders are essential to institutional success. Each year, AACC offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to prepare, inform, and connect current and future community college leaders. Whether it’s the large-scale AACC Annual Convention that brings together nearly 2,000 people from the U.S. and abroad, the more focused Presidents Academy Summer Institute, or the Future Leaders and Future Presidents Institutes. AACC is working to maintain the strong cadre of leaders in the nation’s 2-year institutions.
