 Fred Lokken 

POSITION -- Serves as Dean of WebCollege (online program, Academic Support Center and History, Political Science & Law) at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada; one of eight institutions of the Nevada System of Higher Education. Joined TMCC in 1991 as Political Science professor (tenured). Responsible for Distance Education since 1996. Additional experience in areas of satellite campus administration, governmental affairs/lobbying and academic support/administration.

PREVIOUS -- Experience as an instructor/assistant professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and as a Fair Housing Coordinator (US Department of HUD).

AFFILIATIONS -- include national leadership experience currently serving as chair of the Coalition of Affiliated Councils (COAC) of the AACC where he has worked to strengthen the role of affiliated councils.  Since 2003,  a board member and chair of the Instructional Technology Council (ITC) and a faculty member of the Annual ITC Leadership Academy, a member of the WCET (WICHE) National Academic Integrity Taskforce and  active nationally in the dialog regarding adult learners.  State-level leadership experience includes service as chair of the Nevada Distance Education directors for seven years and appointment to numerous boards/commissions in the areas of land-use planning, citizen engagement, public libraries, centennial celebration planning and the regulation of practicing opticians. 

EDUCATION -- BS, Political Science, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse,  MA, Political Science, Washington State University and ABD, Political Science, University of British Columbia.

OTHER -- Since 2004, has conducted the annual ITC National Distance Education Survey which is  the leading source of data and trends for community colleges in distance education (report distributed to all AACC member presidents). Recognized as a national expert and advocate for online learning and the use of technology in instruction.
