Interesting Facts
- LCC was created by community partners in 1937 to give impoverished residents of the Dust Bowl region new hope. As it celebrates 75 years, LCC is just as committed to bringing opportunity to the region and to its students.
- With a $2 million federal Title III grant, the college has increased its offerings with programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), construction technology and historic preservation. It will add renewable energy technologies in spring 2012.
- The college’s signature program, horse training and management, has grown to be one of the nation’s most respected equine programs, attracting students from all over the U.S. and Canada.
- Recognizing its frontier heritage and location on the Santa Fe Trail, LCC hosts a bi-annual Frontier History Encampment. Living historians, staff, and students will take part in the two-day event scheduled for September 30-October 1, 2011.
