Interesting Facts

  • Owens Community College has unique and modern facilities with locations in Perrysburg Township (Toledo-area campus), Findlay (Findlay-area campus), downtown Toledo (Learning Center at The Source), and Maumee (Arrowhead Park Learning Center). Owens serves more than 20,000 students and offers associate degrees that transfer to baccalaureate degrees in the arts and sciences and over 130 technical program areas.
  • For the past two years, the college has earned the distinction of being designated as a Military Friendly School by Victory Media, a nationally-recognized media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The Military Friendly Schools listing honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools for exemplary efforts in embracing America’s military service members and veterans as students.
  • With a goal of becoming one of the premier campus energy performers in the region, Owens has made a significant commitment to an energy-efficient campus through its program, Project Green, which impacts the energy management and fiscal performance of the institution while also contributing to a sustainable environment. Owens has made a $6.2 million investment to restructure its operations and methods to utilize energy efficient systems.
  • In 2011, Owens earned the distinction to establish a Gateway to College from Gateway to College National Network, a nationally recognized dropout recovery program for young adults who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out. Owens is the only academic institution in Ohio to offer the program.
