The Director provides leadership for workplace education strategies and solutions that distinguish McDonald’s as an innovator in the development of people, while driving company business objectives. Leading the development, launch and execution of solutions to enhance workforce capability, employee career advancement, talent pipeline and McDonald’s employment image. Oversees measurement and compliance; and communicates results.
Responsible for understanding key workforce, adult, and company education trends and gaps and uses that knowledge to lead development of company educational strategies and solutions for restaurant and mid-management talent. Develops and sustains key internal and external partnerships and alliances; leverages national, state and local institutions to ensure sustainable adult education models and standards.
Responsible for orchestration, integration, and alignment of educational initiatives with key stakeholders: HO departments (US HR and TL&D, US Operations, Diversity and Inclusion, WW TL&D, Legal, Gov Relations, Corp Social Responsibility), Regional Leadership, National and Regional People Teams, and Owner/Operators. Ensures alignment with national and regional resources on employment image messaging, internal/external communications plan, and program deployment.
Responsible for envisioning innovative design and delivery methods, using user-centered design principles and methods, and leveraging technology and social media, as appropriate.
Key stakeholders are restaurant managers and crew, mid-managers, Owner/Operators, TL&D and HR Leadership, HO and regional staff, adult education community (especially community colleges), and related government agencies (DOL and DOE).
This position reports to the Senior Director, TL&D and manages internal employees in addition to external consultants.
Minimum Requirements: •10+ years in leadership role of adult education, career pathway/workforce development programming •Experience in direction of design, development, and implementation of large-scale initiatives with proven results. •Strategic vision and planning skills, solid business acumen, and ability to work effectively in a changing environment. •Strong history of innovation; established network of thought leaders •Demonstrated experience communicating with multiple levels of management and peers required •Effective collaboration with corporate, academic, government, and foundation communities to achieve results •Strong negotiation and collaboration skills •Experience in selecting, managing, and developing a staff •Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines •Masters and/or professional advanced degree •Previous McDonald’s experience preferred
