Tacoma Community College is a comprehensive state supported community college serving more than 720,000 residents of the Tacoma-Pierce County area and enrolling approximately 18,000 students annually (6,000 FTE). TCC is one of 34 community and technical colleges in a statewide system. Located on a 150-acre site in west Tacoma, the TCC campus houses 25 buildings including a computer center, learning resource center, art gallery, gymnasium, student center, children’s center, auditorium, and bookstore. The Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs is the chief academic and student services officer of the College. The position provides leadership and direction in fostering student success through an evidence-based approach to instructional effectiveness and student support. With budget responsibility of $20M and supervisory responsibility for 13 administrators and over 1,300 faculty and staff, the Executive Vice President must be an effective leader in working with faculty and student services staff, and will be committed to continuous improvement. The Executive Vice President must be a highly capable budget manager and a strong strategic planner who can be relied upon for timely implementation of strategic and operational goals. A passion for our community college mission and for closing the achievement gap is essential. The successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution and at least 5 years of senior academic leadership in a community college or university. Highly qualified candidates will also have classroom teaching experience and have exercised individual responsibility for an academic division, student affairs division, or major administrative unit in a community college setting.
