The Dean of English and Modern Languages is a professional administrator with the primary responsibility of providing divisional leadership that supports the vision, mission and strategic goals of the College.
Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and management of assigned instructional programs, division services, budget and division employees. Provides leadership in curriculum, educational assessment, strategic planning and budgeting. Employ enrollment management and retention strategies. Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts to communicate and coordinate strategies that support college and instructional goals; to assess and resolve academic issues; and to promote programs and services.
As an integral part of the instructional administrators' team, the successful candidate will ensure the strategic integration of emerging technology and contemporary business practices as well as supporting the growth of a diverse faculty/staff.
Disciplines include: English (composition, creative writing, technical writing, journalism, academic literacy: reading and writing, academic success strategies), literature, modern languages, film studies, international studies, study abroad and women's studies.
Master's degree (or higher) in an area discipline or related discipline OR a master's degree with 24 graduate credit hours in an area discipline or related discipline
- Five years of related teaching experience in one or more of the unit disciplines
- Two years instructional administrative experience, preferably at the community college level
- Proven experience teaching English or Modern Languages, preferably English
- Experience with distance (online) learning
