A member of the Florida College System, Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) was established in 1962 to provide the opportunity for Lake and Sumter County students to receive an advanced education. Since then LSSC has grown into a three-campus institution serving over 7,500 students annually. The 114-acre main campus in Leesburg, Florida is located 50 miles from Orlando and 80 miles from Tampa. Additional campuses are located in Clermont (South Lake) and Sumterville (Sumter). In January 2013, classes started for LSSC’s first four-year degree, Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management.
Reporting to the President and working collaboratively with the other two Vice Presidents as a member of the President's Cabinet, the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Affairs (VPESA) will provide the vision and strategy for student affairs, enrollment management, and student services while advancing the mission of the College. The VPESA will provide leadership and vision in the administration of a comprehensive range of programs and services for students and create a campus culture that promotes the academic achievement and personal development of all students. Areas of supervision for the Vice President include admissions, academic advising, career advising, college transition programs, Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, international students, new student orientation, registration, scholarships, students with disabilities, student activities, student records, student leadership programs, transfer student services, and veteran services. As the institution’s senior enrollment officer, the VPESA promotes the College’s image and programs that enhance recruiting, retention and success of students. The VPESA collaborates most closely with Academic Affairs in accomplishing strategic goals and is responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core value of Service Excellence; respect, competence, responsiveness, and collaboration, in all interactions. The VPESA oversees a budget of approximately $7 million. Direct reports to the Vice President are the Director of Enrollment Management; Director of Outreach Programs; Director of Student Development; Manager of Student Affairs – Sumter; and Manager of Student Services - South Lake.
The successful candidate will possess a master’s degree in higher education administration or a related field and five years of progressive leadership in enrollment management and student affairs administration in higher education. A doctorate, with significant senior leadership experience in enrollment management and student affairs administration, is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of college administration and of the principles and practices of post-secondary student services programs; the use of student affairs planning and assessment tools to measure learning outcomes; demonstrated experience in strategic enrollment management planning; the ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with college personnel; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, faculty, staff, and the community; and the ability to demonstrate the four College Service Excellence Standards of respect, competence, responsiveness and collaboration when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members.
