Executive Vice President of Student Affairs
Distinguishing Features of The Class:
The work involves administering the Student Services Division of the Community College. This is a highly responsible student services position with the incumbent working under the general direction of the President of the College. The incumbent exercises responsibility for planning and developing student services programs, administering and evaluating current student service functions, coordination of budget requests in the student service areas, enrollment management, and admission for the College. Critical areas of responsibility include admissions, registration, financial aid, enrollment planning, student retention and athletics, General or direct supervision is exercised over other administrators. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
Acts as the chief campus administrative liaison;
Acts on the recommendations of respective GAP committees and the College Senate on matters related to academics, student services and other related administrative campus concerns;
Attends all meetings of the College Senate;
Implements College Senate resolutions, when possible, with the cooperation of the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, Executive Vice president of Academic Affairs, Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs, and other college staff;
Responsible for developing and maintaining Student Services at the highest professional level;
Administers such policies and regulations as the Board of Trustees, President, or SUNY may make with regard to Student Services;
Coordinates the work of Admissions, Financial Aid, Placement, Counseling, Registrar, Health Services, and Student Activities in automating and improving their services;
Coordinates selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of Student Service staff, and makes recommendations to the President for appointment, promotion and retention of that staff;
Coordinates the preparation of the budget requests of the Student Service areas of the College;
Coordinates staff development programs for the Student Services Personnel in cooperation with the Director of Human Resources;
Coordinates and implements admissions articulation agreements with other institutions with the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs;
General supervision is exercised over the College Athletic Program, recruitment and registration programs, and the Department of Special Services for disabled students;
Coordinates the registration process college wide;
Responsible for the preparation of the Master Course Schedule in cooperation with the Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs;
As part of enrollment management responsibilities, prepares an annual enrollment plan establishing benchmarks and performance indicators and identifies the resources necessary to accomplish such a plan.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of general student service method and theory; comprehensive knowledge of admissions, enrollment management and registration procedures; knowledge of educational procedures and practices; ability to organize, direct and evaluate student services programs; ability to prepare statistical material effectively; ability to get along well with others; sound professional judgment; initiative; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Education or Student Personnel Services and seven (7) years of Student Services or related experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a responsible education, administrative or supervisory capacity, pertinent non-academic experience is also taken into consideration.
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Doctorate in Education or Student Personnel Services and five (5) years of experience in Student Services, three (3) years of which must have been in a responsible educational, administrative or supervisory capacity.
NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
Special Requirements: Full-Time/Permanent
Senior Executive Staff - $90,000 - $110,000
