Community College of Vermont, one of five Vermont State Colleges and the only community college in the state, engages an all part-time faculty of 800 to serve over 13,000 students a year through 12 state-wide learning centers and online. This position, which reports directly to the President of the College, is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and supervising all academic programs and personnel at the College. The Dean provides leadership in recruiting and developing academic personnel; serves as principal officer for reaccreditation; works with college and system councils and fellow Vermont State Colleges academic deans to develop academic policies and procedures; and oversees the development, support and evaluation of all academic courses and degree programs.
Qualifications: Terminal degree in candidate’s academic field, plus five to ten years of relevant teaching and administrative experience in a community college, or education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Candidates must demonstrate: superb communication skills; experience in fostering and supporting a diverse college community; commitment to CCV’s mission of access, affordability, and quality education; the ability to embrace and manage change in a productive and innovative setting; and facility with multiple forms of program delivery. Experience with grant writing and management is highly desirable. Statewide travel is required.
