Rock Valley College (RVC) is inviting applications for its next President. The Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee are seeking an experienced executive with excellent communication and administrative skills to lead the college, as well as the community it serves. The next President will work to establish and strengthen creative programs and alliances with the surrounding K-12 school districts, local businesses, and other institutions of higher education while continuing RVC’s fiscal stability. Working closely with an elected Board of Trustees, the next successful President of RVC will be a community leader who will engage a wide variety of constituents and stakeholders to improve the educational and economic opportunities for the students of RVC and the citizens of Rockford and its surrounding areas.
Rock Valley College is a comprehensive two-year community college in Rockford, Illinois offering more than 100 courses for transfer, career programs and certificates.
Founded in 1964, the college is part of the 48-institution Illinois Community College System and serves a total population of more than 340,000 in Winnebago and the surrounding counties. With five satellite locations throughout Rockford and modern facilities on its wooded 217-acre main campus, RVC enrolls 8,600 students, over half of whom attend full-time, and serves annually more than 25,000 students in its non-credit and career enhancement programs. The campus also boasts a refurbished Student Center and Educational Resource Center, newly renovated Physical Education Center, and the brand new state-of-the-art Karl J. Jacobs Center for Science and Math. The Starlight Theatre, home of RVC’s outstanding theater program, is a cultural centerpiece of the Rockford community.
The next President of RVC will likely have had experience operating at the nexus of education and industry, will be well-versed in the issues facing both K-12 and Higher Education, and will understand the value and potential of an institution like RVC to its community. The successful candidate must have recent and relevant administrative experience, with preference given to those who have held leadership positions in a community or technical college. A terminal academic degree is preferred
