Job Description

Vice President, Finance and Business Services Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership for the College’s Business Services department including supervision of the District Controller and Student Services Supervisor – Financials. The Business Services department is responsible for budget administration, financial reporting and compliance and student finance account maintenance.
2. Provide support for the College’s Human Resources department in the areas of labor relations, benefits administration and design, and safety plan coordination.
3. Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and participate in the development of the College’s administrative policies and procedures.
4. Represent the College in the community, as designated.
5. Supervise and evaluate assigned staff and provide for staff development activities.
6. Represent the College at state and other related meetings in matters appropriate to the position.
7. Assure a safe and open learning environment for all.
8. Coordinate and review purchasing and bidding processes.
9. Manage the College’s investment program.
10. Administer the College’s long-term debt programs according to Board policy.
11. Manage the College’s short and long-term facility/site planning and state approval process.
12. Provide leadership for continuous process improvement and the creative pursuit of new ideas within Finance and Business Services as well as support collegewide quality improvement processes.

Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership in the coordination of the development and implementation of the operational plans.
2. Develop and administer the Facilities Planning Program for the College.
3. Represent the President in operational decision-making and in the day-to-day management of the College when the President is absent.
4. Attend board meetings and assist the President with Board communications /relations.
5. Serve as primary contact for financial advisor, architect/ construction manager and auditor.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and a Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Education, Public Administration or related field or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certificate; and five (5) years of senior level administrative experience.
2. Ten (10) years professional work experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting.
3. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in education or the public sector.
4. Demonstrated ability to lead others and facilitate the growth of effective work teams.
5. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to college or public sector accounting and finance. Knowledge of policy governance, preferred.
6. Experience working with an integrated administrative information system. PeopleSoft experience preferred.
7. Two (2) year’s experience in governmental accounting (GASB) preferred.
