Vice President, Academic and Student Development

Company

Northwest Community College

Location

Terrace, British Columbia, Canada

Job Description

Northwest Community College (NWCC), established in 1975, is a provincially funded post-secondary institution serving northwest British Columbia and is located within some of the most beautiful mountain and coastal areas in Canada. Its nine campuses cover a service area of more than 100,000 square kilometres and are in the communities of: Hazelton, Houston, Kaay Linagaay, Kitimat, Masset, Prince Rupert, Queen Charlotte, Smithers and Terrace. Reporting to the President and collaborating with a talented team of vice presidents, deans, and directors, the Vice President, Academic and Student Development will champion excellence and innovation in teaching and applied research and play an active role in enrolment management and student success and engagement. The ability to think analytically and creatively in support of the College’s new strategic plan, mission and vision and to connect with the academic community at all levels, is essential. This is an exciting role for an experienced educator who is interested in delivering the future of community college education. The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree (PhD preferred) along with outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. A strong academic record, collaborative leadership skills and strategic vision to advance academic programs, enrolment, and applied research are critical. Experience working with Aboriginal education and students would be important. NWCC provides quality learning experiences that help prepare our students for successful, positive futures. We celebrate the diversity of our northern and First Nations populations and reflect this diversity in our programs, services and workforce. In accordance with NWCC’s strategic plan, we encourage applications from First Nations individuals. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
