The ConnSCU Board of Regents is currently accepting applications and nominations for the fourth President of Asnuntuck Community College. The new President will lead a College that has experienced increased enrollment, retention, and graduation rates; initiated a $9 million facilities renovation project; and added advanced technologies that allow students to gain hands-on experiences. Military Times Edge has rated ACC as one of the “101 Best Colleges and Universities for Veterans” for three years in a row. ACC has made state-of-the-art enhancements to its audio production studio, WACC 107.7 FM, which was the first FM radio station at a community college in Connecticut. The college is also expanding its renowned Manufacturing Technology Center with the addition of a new welding and fabrication facility to provide more educational opportunities for its students. The Manufacturing Technology center has become a showcase program throughout the state.
The President serves as the chief executive officer of the College and reports to the President of the Board of Regents for the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities. The next President will be a skilled administrator and visionary who is committed to community engagement and partnerships, takes a collegial and team-oriented approach to administration, and successfully engages ACC faculty, staff, and employers to develop new workforce development programs. The successful candidate will be expected to successfully establish relationships with ConnSCU System officers, state and local officials, and corporate partners to effectively advocate for ACC and promote the College’s programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in leadership and demonstrated success in financial management, fundraising, and strategic and academic planning. A motivated and collaborative work ethic, strong communication skills, and knowledge of national trends in higher education will be necessary characteristics for this position. An advanced degree is required for this opportunity, while a terminal degree is preferred. Candidates with equivalent and/or applicable senior level leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
Environment: Enfield is conveniently located off Interstate 91, offering easy access to Hartford, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts. Enfield is a central point in the Hartford-Springfield region of New England’s “Knowledge Corridor.” The area provides access to many New England attractions including numerous historical sites; The Basketball Hall of Fame; and the Big E State Fair, which is the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard. Enfield, Connecticut is also within close proximity to major metropolitan areas, such as Boston and New York City.
