The 7th Annual Junior Faculty and Postdoctoral Fellows Career Development Workshop, sponsored by the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) Minorities Affairs Committee (MAC), is scheduled for June 9–10, 2012 in San Antonio, TX.
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MAY 9, 2012.
The workshop is open to all postdoctoral fellows and junior level faculty. A limited number of travel awards are available for members of underrepresented groups in the sciences, members of disadvantaged populations, and for faculty (regardless of ethnicity) at minority serving institutions. The awards will cover travel, registration ($350), meals and housing.
Plenary and breakout sessions will cover areas relevant for the establishment of an academic career at research intensive and comprehensive/teaching institutions. Session topics will include the following: Professional Conduct, Tenure, Grantsmanship, Mentorship, Leadership, Collaborations, Time Management, Writing, and Lab Setup/Management.
