Community Colleges Invited to Project on Civic and Democratic Learning

2/1/2012

Application Deadline: March 15, 2012
Notification of Selection: April 12, 2012

The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) and The Democracy Commitment: An American Community College Initiative (TDC) have issued a call for proposals to community colleges across the nation to join a three-year curriculum and faculty development project called Bridging Cultures to Form a Nation: Difference, Community, and Democratic Thinking.

TDC and AAC&U invite proposals from community colleges that explore the humanities as a powerful medium for prompting and sustaining dialogue around diversity and democracy in the twenty-first century. The project will include an intensive, five-day summer faculty development institute in August 2012 and will culminate in a symposium planned for Summer/Fall 2014. In addition to the centralized work of the project, the 10-12 campuses that are selected for the consortium will serve as regional leadership “hubs” for this work. More information on the project and the call for proposals can be found on the Bridging Cultures website.
